Sangeetha Rathnam Eswaran Bhattathri, Principal of Government Music College at Pudukottai was the vocalist. Sri Kovai Chandran was on the Violin and Kumbakonam Sri Saravanan was on the Mrudhangam. Sri Eswaran Bhattathri started the concert with the Krithi on Lord Vinayagar - Bajamahe - in Hamsadwani, a composition of Jhularivanam. After a swift rendering of the song, a Nattai Raga song 'Swaminatha' of St Thiagaraja was well presented. This was followed by yet another good song in Bilahari, 'Ma Mayura' by Chidambaram Bagavathar. The Mrudangist Kumbakonam Saravanan efficiently played the steps of this song to the exhilieration of the audience. The next song, 'Gana Rasamudan' of Papanasam Sivan, in the raga Begada, was enjoyed by the audience. Then he chose the popular 'Himagiri Thanaye' of Harikesanallur Muthia Bhagavathar, in raga Udayaravi. Being a season of Skanda Sashti, "Orarumugame" in Ritigowla was also a gift to the audience. The main raga taken up for elaboration was Todi. The raaga alapana was very exhaustive. The way he dealt the nuances of the raga was very impressive. The song 'Kaarthikeya Gangeya' of Papanasam Sivan was sung with total involvement. The swara sancharam was an excellent display by the Artiste who carried the audience with him throughout. Thani Avarthanam provided by the Mridangist Saravanan together with Mr Prasad on Kanjeera, was a wonderful entertainment to the audience. The violinist Kovai Chandran's co-ordination was excellent throughout the concert. The audience enjoyed a few more pieces of nice songs besides Thillana and Thirupugaz, before the programme concluded with Mangalam.
