SANGEETHA RASIKA SANGAM - February, 2007

The 95th Music Program of Sangeetha Rasika Sangam, Chennai 92 was held at Sri Vara Siddhi Vinayagar Temple, Chinmayanagar (Central Chinmaya Mission Trust) on 18th February 2007.

Sri Kolkata Shankar featured as vocalist while Shri S P Anantha Padmanabhan accompanied him on the violin with percussionary support provided by Thanjavur Subramanian

The concert opened with the Navaragamalika Varnam 'Valachi'. This was followed by a Dhikshithar Kriti viz., 'Sidhi Vinayakam' in Shanmugapriya (Chamaram) which impressed the rasikas very much.

Another song viz., Entaro Mahanubavulu of St Thiagarajar, a Pancharatna Kriti in the raaga 'Shri' left a deep imprint in the minds of listerners.

Kannatanri Napai in Devamanohari of Sri Thiagaraja was also rendered with moving melody.

The artiste made a brief survey of 'Karaharapriya' through St Thiagaraja's Sakkani raaja. 'Venkitaachala Nilayam' of Purandaradasar in Sindhu Bairavi was rendered with moving melody.

With Mangalam, the programme concluded.

The programme was well attended and enjoyed.
