SANGEETHA RASIKA SANGAM - January 2013

The 155th Program of Sangeetha Rasika Sangam, Chennai 92 was held at Sri Siva Vishnu Temple, Natesa Nagar, Virugambakkam P.O., Chennai 600092 on Sunday the 26 January 2013 - between 6.30 pm and 9.00 pm. SANGEETHA RASIKA SANGAM presented its 155th music program at Sri Siva Vishnu Temple, Natesa Nagar. Selvi. Priyanka C. Prakash, Disciple of Ms Neela Rajagopal, was the vocalist. She was accompanied by Selvi. H.M.Smitha on violin, again a musician from Bangalore and by Sri. Akshya Ram on mrudangam , who is a disciple of Sri Umayalpuram Sivaraman. She started the concert with Nannu Vidichi in Rithi Gowlai , tradinationally, a soul stirring song on Sri Rama by Thyagaiya. Followed it with a Swathi Thirunal`s song Sarasaksha in Panthuvarali. Thiagaraja`s Arambukumbave in Thodi was the next song. Then a pleading tone song of Koteeswara Iyer-Yethayya Gathi - was rendered. It was followed by Dharma Samvardhini by Deekshithar, the goddess has an abode-sannithi- in Sri Siva Vishnu Temple. It was well received by the local audience with great clasps. After rendering of Sarasa sa madhana in Kapi Narayani, the main Raga of the kutchery, viz., Khamboji was elaborated in detail. All its nuances were brought out splendidly by the vocalist as well by the violinist who was very imaginative in her delineation. The song chosen was Everymata. After a scintillating Thani by the mrudangist Akshya Ram, Priyanka rendered a patriotic song Senthamiz Nadu Yenra Podhinile followed by Brughi Munkundehi and a tillana. The concert ended with a Mangalam. The bold bowing technique and a faithful support by the violinist was the highlight of the Kuchery.The young Mrudangam player did a commendable job in his Thani. Audience from in and around Chinayanagar and Natesan Nagar, enjoyed the live concert till the end.
