SANGEETHA RASIKA SANGAM - January 2012
The 143rd Program of Sangeetha Rasika Sangam, Chennai 92 was held at Sri Siva Vishnu Temple, Natesa Nagar, Virugambakkam P.O., Chennai 600092 on Thursday the 26th January, 2012 (Republic Day) - between 6.30 pm and 9.00 pm.
Dr Vijayalakshmy Subramaniam was the vocalist. Dr M Narmada accompanied her on the violin and Mannarkovil J Balaji on the Mrudhangam. Dr Vijayalakshmy began her concert with a Varnam, Eranayai, in the Raaga Thodi. Broche Evare in the Raaga Sriranjani was the next piece. She then chose a Krithi Sambo Maha Deva in Pantuvarali - a melodious one enjoyed by the audience very well. The vocalist gave an opportunity to the auddience to listen to her Devaram, Ananda Natana, a beautuful song. Ka Va Va in Varali, yet another melodious peace, sung with Bakthi and Bhavam, was a vibrant one. She then began her main exhaustive Alapana in Sankarabaranam. The song chosen by her for this was the popular one viz., Saroja daya nethri. She sang a few more Krithies. In general her concert was enjoyed by the audience very well. The co-ordination of the accompanying artistes was excellent and flawless. The concert concluded with Mangalam.
